Welcome to Designing for Plenty. I started this blog as a gathering place for ideas to remind myself and others to live the life you have now by enjoying the small things, while your planning your future of bigger things.  So many of us have gone through a lot of hard changes in the recent past; job loss, extended unemployment, loss of a loved one, divorce, caring for a parent, etc.  It’s so easy to get in a mindset of “lack” when these kinds of changes happen.

Welcome to Designing for Plenty

What kind of lack are we talking about here?  Well, there can be the obvious ones like:

  • money
  • time
  • security

There are other kinds of lack that might not jump to mind right away such as:

  • self-esteem
  • personal motivation
  • independence
  • routine.

When we find ourselves in these sorts of situations it is natural for us to cut back.  But what happens when these cut backs are in place for an extended period of time?  You may not notice it right away, but little by little we are chipping away at the things that make life a happy experience.  I’ll admit it, that’s why I’m starting this journey and I hope that you will join me.  I’ve been living with lack for almost 2 years now and I can justify each and every decision I’ve made, but in reality those decisions rarely had only 1 solution.  So it’s time to open up the windows and let some new sunshine in and look for new solutions that can include some room for getting to a life of “Plenty”.

The reason I named this blog “Designing for Plenty” was largely based on a simple definition that I found in the Merriam-Webster dictionary which defined plenty as “the state of having enough of the things that make life good and easy” Wow! That really hit a cord with me.  I’m not looking for a life of the rich and famous.  I’m looking for a comfortable life that leaves room for me to enjoy each day without the underlying worry of how I’m going to fulfill life’s obligations.  The “Designing” portion of the name is really getting back to that journey and recognizing that I can concentrate of the things that I can control to guide that journey to the life I want.

So are you ready to join me and start designing YOUR journey for plenty? I’d love say welcome to Designing for Plenty! And if you’d like to receive information on our upcoming articles, events and giveaways, please sign up for our E-mail list below so we can include you. Thank you! Denise
