The  Prediabetes Action Plan and Cookbook by Cheryl Mussatto, MS, RD, LD is a perfect book if you have just been diagnosed with Prediabetes, or if you have had the diagnosis for a while but now you are ready to make some changes and take control of your disease.

I love that this book tells you to embrace the word ACTION! She talks about how this is the perfect time to take this diagnosis and do something to change things around. After getting a diagnosis that could be life changing, it was music to my ears that I had some control over this disease. She has the great ability to explain what is disease is, and talk about the different levels and types that are involved in diabetes. You will have a great understanding of what this means to you, and how you can change to shape your own path.

Getting started, and taking action is really simple because she includes a 2-week meal and activity plan in this book. She spends time explaining how you can set routines and work activities into your day. Most importantly, explaining the need for you to set yourself first. To commit to time spent on changing your lifestyle to get healthy and possibly even reverse your Prediabetes. Making appointments to get in physical activity and KEEPING that appointment is key to making a positive change.

The recipe options were also a welcome surprise. Here are just a few of the recipes you should try out for yourself; Chicken Chilaquiles with Eggs, Greek-Style Turkey, Flank Steak with Chimichurri and and you will want to check out the Carrot Cake recipe as well! If you have heard stories about never being able to eat sweets again, or having to shop in a special section of the grocery story rest assured this is not the case. You will see that you have plenty of options when you page through the 75 recipes that are part of the second section of this book.

The  Prediabetes Action Plan and Cookbook is a great reference book and a cookbook that you will be sure to try over and over. I would highly recommend this book to get your started on your action plan.
