Most of us view a detox as a physical experience, but what we don’t realize is that it’s not just our physical bodies that need to be cleansed in order to return to a healthy state. Emotional Detox for Anxiety: 7 Steps to Release Anxiety and Energize Joy by Sherianna Boyle MED, CAGS is a truly new book on an approach to living with anxiety. This book gives readers an easy to understand process to release their anxiety, something that is not easy to do. This method is called the C.L.E.A.N.S.E. process and it involves 7 steps that help to process your feelings and find a healing environment to bring back the joy in your life.

Emotional Detox for Anxiety – C.L.E.A.N.S.E. Method

We all know that our emotions really matter. Sherianna Boyle points out that being able to process those emotions matters even more. So let’s take a look at what C.L.E.A.N.S.E. stands for;

C – Clear Reactivity

L – Look Inward

E – Emit

A – Activate Joy

N – Nourish

S – Surrender

E – Ease

As you move through this process, and get more comfortable with doing it, you will find that each step takes somewhere between 3 and 10 minutes to accomplish. So unlike some programs that take long periods of time to get to the next level, the C.L.E.A.N.S.E process can be fully completed in one sitting. This makes it possible to come to a good resolution each time to do this process, rather than letting things continue to swirl in your mind.

As you read through the book, each chapter ends with a Recap. This is great for a quick review as you continue to work on the process and make it work for you. One of the sections of the book that I really liked and could use was about creating your Allow Statements. She includes a great chart of various reactions and ideas for allow statements so you could start thinking about your own individual circumstances. For example, if your coping technique is “giving in” you might pick an allow statement to involve being assertive or even allow your expression.

This is a great resource for anyone dealing with anxiety. You will have more control over your feelings and reactions as you work through the concepts presented in Emotional Detox for Anxiety: 7 Steps to Release Anxiety and Energize Joy. Whether you buy this book for yourself, or a caring gift for someone that is close to you, this book will provide continued reference support for many years to come.
