Bring on Spring Sugar Scrub

It’s the weekend, and the weather is getting warmer, so it’s time that we bring in a fun do-it-yourself body scrub to get your skin feeling good. Using citrus scents, this sugar scrub will wake up your senses and get you ready to enjoy spring.

Bring on Spring Sugar Scrub

The ingredients you will need:

  • 1 TBS almond oil (or similar carrier oil)
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup granulated sugar (to bring it to the consistency that you like)
  • The peel from a small orange (or lemon)
  • 10 drops of essential oils; Orange, Lemon or grapefruit
Sparkling water always available at home with a touch of a button

To Make the Sugar Scrub

Use a microplane zester (or the small holes of a box grater) to make small pieces of the orange or lemon peel. Combine the almond oil, coconut oil, granulated sugar and the zested peel in a non-reactive bowl. When you have the sugar scrub consistency that you like, add the 10 drops of essential oils and stir well to make sure the scent is distributed throughout. Put in a air-tight jar.

To use your Sugar Scrub

Apply a small amount of the sugar scrub to dampened skin. Massage in for a few minutes so the scrub has time to renew your skin. Then rinse off the scrub with warm water. Note – since this scrub uses oils, use caution in bathtubs or showers as they can become slippery.

This recipe uses a lot of citrus scents to make it good for spring. If you like this scrub, feel free to experiment with other essential oils that would work well with the orange or lemon peel. In the comments below, let us know what suggestions you would try.
