Happy Halloween everyone, and it’s time to talk about the need to take that scary step today. I’m talking about a big, complicated step. I can’t believe I’m doing this kind of step to jump start a goal you have. There is no steps too big here. If it doesn’t leave you a little bit breathless – you need to think bigger. There are 2 months left of 2018. That’s plenty of time to make a big start on planning for your big success this year. Continuing with that momentum into next year.

I’ll share with you my crazy, scary step that I’m taking in November. I am getting really serious about my writing. Due to the fact that I’ve been having so much fun with writing up book reviews, creating blog articles, and writing freelance for other companies with blogging content needs. However, in the back of my mind, that childhood writing dreamer is still thinking about writing a fiction book. So I did my, take that scary step today, and signed up for nanowrimo which stands for National Novel Writing Month.
If you are a writer, or ever thought about giving it a try, here is a link to this event https://nanowrimo.org. The goal is to write 50,000 words on a novel in the month of November. That’s writing about 1667 words per day. It’s a fascinating read, and they came to this number because most people are able to handle goal even if they have a full-time job, family, etc. It’s not going to be easy – in fact it’s a pretty scary step, but it’s going to be worth it for me to push myself and see what I can accomplish. Having a start and end date helps to plan, and redirect if need be.

This goal should be fun, and exciting. Something that gets your blood pumping and different enough to get you thinking in new directions.
Use these prompts to help you choose your own journey:
- How can I change something about how I spend my day?
- Is there something out that makes me want to learn new skills, values, etc.?
- What daily activities would it take to make this journey a success?
- Who could help me take this journey? (I need someone to cheer me on, I’d like someone to take the same journey at the same time, or I am looking for someone to inspire me)
What kind of scary step would you like to jump into today? What is something that you’ve never tried before? In other words, something you have been dreaming about in secret for years? Something that no matter if you make it to the finish line, or crash and burn trying, you know that you’ll be a better you just to take that scary step today.
