Have you ever felt like the universe is telling you, in no uncertain terms, that you should take some action? It starts out with a thought…”hey, that sounds interesting, maybe I should do that.” Then perhaps followed up with self-doubt “Nah, now isn’t the right time”. You decide to let the idea go, but the universe has different ideas. All of a sudden a reminder comes out of left field. Then another and another and now it’s front and center in your brain and you either need to get more creative in your excuses to yourself, or get up and do something about it.
I was in this situation just recently. My local public library is offering an adult writing class that is going to be held over 4 weeks. At first I was all excited. Since it was being held at my library it was free of charge. (check, budget approved!) It was going to be held at a time that worked perfectly in my schedule. (check, works for calendar) The class was going to be given by a local fiction writer who was published with a good number of books on the market. (check, local success story). This is sounding great! And then the self-doubt monster reared his ugly head. “Well, I’m writing, but I haven’t done anything with my fiction writing in so long.” Just as quickly as the idea inspired me, I decided to put it out of my head.

The next day, I’m following a public bus on my way to work and it has a wrap around graphic about a local college extension program encouraging us to make a dream a reality. Weird I thought to myself. I got to work, and the day began and the thought left my mind. Then that night I was checking my emails and I had an offer to get a fiction writing course for free, I just needed to pay shipping and handling. Huh I thought to myself. I kept scrolling through my emails and the thought left my mind.
Now it’s Tuesday, and I’m standing in line to cast my vote in our local elections. My voting location is at my local public library. I walk into the building and there is a poster for the writing class on the door – right at eye level, I can’t help but notice it. But I was on a mission, I was here to vote. I get through voting, and just about to exit the building and I stopped.
I was here, the signs kept coming, and what did I have to loose…and I walked over to the library counter. Now I’m starting to do some quick “if this then this” bets. I would ask if there was any space left in this class. If the answer was no, it wasn’t meant to be. Guess what, there was room in the class, the librarian excitedly told me it was going to be a great event and she hoped I would have a great time. The “universe is telling you” idea was working in full force, and I took the first step and now I’m committed.
There is an interesting article on The Chopra Center website talking about the signs you can find from the universe. https://chopra.com/articles/how-to-recognize-signs-from-the-universe
