There is a great quote from Albert Einstein that says “It’s not that I’m so smart, it’s just that I stay with problems longer.” Wow, now that is really something to think about as we are approaching a brand new year, and creating big dreams and ambitious resolutions. Research has shown that approximately 80% of resolutions fail by the 2nd week in February. That means that a majority of people are giving major goals barely 6 weeks to solve. No wonder we get disappointed and give up.

So as you are preparing your goals for 2018, I encourage you to also set aside some rough dates for some of the major milestone, and make sure that they are going to be realistic for your current life. Go ahead and extend a goal out for a couple of months to get yourself a good chance to carry your fabulous goals all the way to completion.
One of my big goals for 2018 is to up my writing game. So I have made a goal of getting 20 articles sold, which will get me to the next level of accomplishment with the company that I write for. This will open up new clients that I can help and I will earn higher per sale prices. Now I’m not going to kid myself, this is a very big goal and it’s going to take me time and a commitment to consistency. So I’ve mapped out a 3 month plan for phase 1 (getting me over that February snafu time-frame) and making a nice business quarter to plan for. I’ve planned on writing 2 articles per week on my 2 days off of my regular full-time job. The pace feels doable to me, and I know that I should plan on writing more than 20 in case they don’t all sell, so I’ll do another round of planning mid-March to reassess where I am at with my goals and how I need to make any course corrections.
I’m excited about a brand new year, and a fresh start for my business. I’d love to hear about your goals for 2018 and how you are going to give yourself the time and resources to reach the finish line. Please feel free to share your 2018 goals below in the comments! Happy New Year everyone! Denise
