April 8th is National Zoo Lovers Day so take a trip to you local zoo and enjoy the animals and learning about them. I love going to the zoo because I learn something new every time I go. Read the signs posted around the zoo to get an idea of where the animals come from , and what their habitat contains. What do the animals eat? It’s also interesting to find out how the animals like to live, do they like to be part of a big group, like a herd of zebra or do they prefer to live in a small family group. The more that we learn about animals the more that we can do to appreciate them and take part in their survival around the world.
There are so many opportunities to learn about the animals of our world at zoos, and they provide us the ways that we can support animal conservation. The Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) has an inspiring message on their website home page https://www.aza.org/
We believe in a better future for all living things.
We envision a world where all people respect, value, and conserve wildlife and wild places.
Many local zoos also hold events for both kids and adults to enjoy the zoo and learn more about the animals. Not only are these events fun and memorable, but they often contain ways to learn about wildlife and wild places that we can dream about. If your zoo has a petting area, you can actually get up close and interact with the animals. I still love the opportunity to feed the goats, I don’t think I’ll ever outgrow that!
If you make a full day of going to the zoo, many have areas that you can enjoy a picnic and eat outside. So this spring season, schedule a trip to your zoo and have a rewarding day of being in nature and with the animals of the world. Be sure to bring your camera to take pictures of your day, you never know what kind of photo opportunities you will find. If you have some great zoo pictures, go ahead and leave one in the comments below. Happy National Zoo Lovers Day!
